Chris Chesser – Executive Producer
Chris holds a B.A. from Dartmouth College and an M.B.A. from the American Graduate School of International Management. He began in the movie business in New York in 1974 as an executive in international sales for Columbia Pictures. He became General Manager of the American Film Institute in 1976.
In 1978, Chris served as executive assistant to Mike Medavoy at the newly formed Orion Pictures. From 1980 to 1983 he was vice president of production for Marble Arch Productions and head of production for Filmways until it was acquired by Orion Pictures.
As a production executive, he supervised the production of SHARKEY’S MACHINE, THE GREAT SANTINI, CADDYSHACK, WOLFEN, ARTHUR, EXCALIBUR and ON GOLDEN POND. He also developed SPINAL TAP and ABSENCE OF MALICE.
Chris left Orion to supervise production of YELLOWBEARD. He developed and served as executive producer on KANSAS and WAR PARTY.
Producing credits include EYES OF AN ANGEL with John Travolta, for Michael Douglas and Trans World Entertainment, and MAJOR LEAGUE for Paramount Pictures. He produced SILHOUETTE with Alan Beattie, after which Chris and Alan formed Beattie/Chesser to develop and produce films for both theatrical release and television. Beattie/Chesser produced THE WRONG MAN, an Official Selection at the 1993 Cannes Film Festival, EXQUISITE TENDERNESS and UNDER PRESSURE.
n 1996 Beattie/Chesser teamed with producer/director John Corry in the formation of The Documedia Group to produce SWORN TO SECRECY (SECRETS OF WAR), a 65-hour documentary series on 20th Century warfare which anchored every Sunday night on The History Channel for 3 years.
Alan, Chris and John subsequently formed International Media 3 Entertainment to produce documentary and reality-based series and specials. IM3 produced the award-winning documentary series THE COLOR OF WAR, as well as CELEBRITY WINGS and the documentary feature, THE FACE OF EVIL. The three also were executive producers of the feature film THE RUNDOWN for Universal.
In 2005 Chris formed All Hat Entertainment to produce the syndicated children’s series SAFARI TRACKS, now in its third year. Along with Karen Glasser’s Ten Chimneys Entertainment, All Hat recently completed production of the animated feature THE TEN COMMANDMENTS. All Hat and Ten Chimneys are also teaming on a series of animated children’s stories based on the PARABLES OF JESUS, as well as the feature suspense/thriller, PHASE ONE.
